Class Descriptions:
Tribal basics is designed for the beginner student as an introduction to universal fundamentals of belly dance and tribal stylization. This class establishes a strong foundation for every dancer. Even if you have taken belly dance classes before, this class is essential for students looking to learn this particular style.
Improv Tribal Style Belly Dance/ATS Belly Dance
Dancers learn tribal dance movement vocabulary to steady rhythms in order to facilitate group improvisation. Learn subtle cues, leading and following to create improvisational choreography. Movements for this art form are a fusion of the authentic movements of Egypt, North Africa, Spain, India and more. Practitioners of this art form set aside personal egos in order to experience tribal synergy, create art in motion and tap into their earthy, female strength.
Tribal Fusion
Tribal fusion describes the innovative direction taken by ATS/ITS belly dancers. Tribal fusion dancers embrace a new blend of traditional and modern movement. Tribal Fusion Belly Dance exercises muscular execution of belly dance movement, theatrical artistry and contemporary stylings. It is recommended for the dance student to take Tribal Basics and/or Improv Tribal Style/American Tribal Style with Luna before giving Tribal Fusion a try in order to have the correct posturing and foundation needed for this art form. Choreography will be taught in this class.
Cabaret Belly Dance
Raqs Sharqi (modern and classical Egyptian styles) will be taught in this wonderful class. Amina is known for incorporating Yoga and Pilates into her bellydance classes to condition and drill the core and all surrounding muscle groups to prepare for the work ahead. Her classes focus on drilling isolation and basic steps and combinations while giving you an intense workout. Choreography will be taught, once basic steps and combos are covered. Amina has student showcases at "My Big Fat Greek" in Dania from time to time. If you'd like to perform, that is a possibility but you must attend classes regularly and rehearse as needed.
Make your dance appear effortless using various yoga, pilates and Russian circus contortion techniques. Zuzka's flexibility class aims to increase a dancers range of motion. Gain better balance all whlle stregnthing and toning the body. The class will constist of a proper warm up to awaken the muscles, stretching and toning exercises and a relaxing cool down. Dancing will become unrestrained, graceful, strong and smooth. Students of all levels are welcome. Classes are personalized to each students flexibility level.
What to Expect:
Challenging and focused the classes consist of strengthening exercises in order to condition the muscles necessary for belly dance. Our intimately sized classes include clear accessible instruction of:
*isolation and technique drills
*dance combinations
*choreography and improvisation exercises
*strengthening exercises
*warm up and cool down yoga postures
*an intimate sized class for ample individualized attention to each student.
What to Bring:
*a yoga/exercise mat for floor exercises
*a water bottle to stay hydrated *a small hand towel or washcloth to wipe away perspiration as you will sweat!
*a dance journal to take notes that will assist you in your home practice
*a positive open-minded attitude and a desire to learn
*wear form fitting clothing such as yoga clothing, dance class attire in order for the instructor to see your movements clearly.
